VOLKSWAGEN ANDRETTI RALLYCROSS SWEEPS RED BULL GLOBAL RALLYCROSS LOS ANGELES• Scott Speed wins both races in LA doubleheader and teammate Tanner Foust podiums twice

Herndon, VA — It was a near-perfect weekend for the Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross (VARX) team, which celebrated the one-year anniversary of the Beetle GRC's on-track debut with four podiums—including two victories—at the Red Bull Global Rallycross (GRC) doubleheader from the Port of LA. The pair of wins earned by Scott Speed makes him the winningest driver in GRC history and puts him solidly in contention for the 2015 championship: he now lies only 13 points behind the title leader with three rounds remaining in the season. Tanner Foust proved the Beetle GRC's mettle, and his own tenacity, by claiming two hard-fought podiums at his home event.

'One year from the Beetle GRC's race debut, and we get to celebrate its birthday with two incredible results here at the Port of LA,' said a beaming Clark Campbell, General Manager, Volkswagen Experiential Marketing. 'Our Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross team has matured so much in our short time competing in Red Bull Global Rallycross, but this weekend is the crowning achievement of our program so far.'

Scott Speed had an almost perfect Saturday. After posting the second-quickest time of Friday afternoon's qualifying session, the driver of the No. 41 Merchant First Volkswagen Beetle GRC won both his heat races, his Semifinal outing, and the main event, marking his first points-paying victory of the 2015 season. Saturday's result could only be topped by Sunday's, in which Speed set the quickest time in qualifying and followed it up by winning his Heat, Semifinal, and Final, leading every lap of competition.

'It's been a fantastic weekend, obviously!' exclaimed Speed after his second champagne shower in two days. 'With a new program like this, you're bound to run into difficulties, but we've overcome them, our Beetle GRCs are fast and durable, and I see us as a major threat for the championship. I couldn't be happier; I feel so lucky to drive this car, I have an amazing teammate, and a great team. I can't say enough good things about Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross!'

Tanner Foust, driver of the No. 34 Rockstar Energy Drink Beetle GRC, had a similarly strong weekend, earning a second-place finish on Saturday, and a third on Sunday. The two-time GRC champion used his well-honed racecraft to overcome close competition on the tight LA track, exemplifying the Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross team's 'never-give-up' spirit.

'It was just mayhem today,' declared Foust, describing the start of Sunday's Final. 'I think I was in sixth at one point on the first lap, so I feel pretty fortunate to get back on the podium with the Volkswagen Beetle GRC. Our cars were just flying all weekend. Big thanks to the whole VARX team—these results are huge for us.'

The Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross team will be back in action next month for Red Bull Global Rallycross's international bout in Barbados. 'We did pretty well in Barbados last year,' said a smiling Speed after being handed a broom by a team member following his Sunday sweep. 'I think we're in good shape to replicate this weekend's results!'
