VOLKSWAGEN ANDRETTI RALLYCROSS HOPES TO EXTEND CHAMPIONSHIP LEAD IN INAUGURAL ATLANTIC CITY RACETanner Foust and Scott Speed vie for first victory at new Red Bull Global Rallycross venue from Bader Field in Atlantic City

Herndon, VA — Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross, will be taking its pair of dominant Beetle GRCs to Atlantic City this weekend for Red Bull Global Rallycross's first visit to the Jersey Shore. Coming off an impressive weekend in D.C., in which the VARX teammates Speed and Foust led every competitive session, VARX is confident in adding more trophies to its collection, recognizing that a strong result here will further solidify its championship ambitions.

Scott Speed scored his second victory in a row in D.C., closing the championship standings gap to his teammate to a mere four points heading into the final four races of the season. This weekend, the driver of the No.41 BFGoodrich/Toms River Volkswagen Beetle GRC will be aiming for his fourth consecutive podium finish, a streak longer than any other driver this season. 'It seems like we've finally turned the corner on some of our early-season bad luck, and the speed of our car has really shown,' said Speed. 'Everyone's been working so hard, so I'm glad the results are finally starting to pay off. I'm excited to see what we can do at this new venue.'

Foust rebounded from a disappointing result at MCAS New River to finish third in D.C.—his fifth podium of seven races so far in 2016. The driver of the No. 34 Rockstar Energy Drink Beetle GRC maintains his championship lead going into Atlantic City, as well as an unbroken and record-setting string of 19 Heat and Semifinal victories beginning with the first race of the season in Phoenix. 'The Beetle GRC is such a strong car, I think we're in a great position to achieve another good result this weekend,' said Foust. 'It will be key to qualify up front at this new track. I'm ready to turn these Heat and Semifinal results into another win.'

With its drivers sitting one-two in the championship, Volkswagen also rests atop the manufacturer standings, four points clear of its nearest rival. VARX has already claimed three double-podium finishes in 2016; a fourth would further cement the team's position at the top of the field.

The eighth round of the 2016 season from Atlantic City will air LIVE on NBC—Sunday, August 28 at 3:00PM (ET).
