JAMES GRINT & PAUL DONKIN MAKE IT SEVEN CARS FOR JAMSPORT TEAM IN BRANDS HATCH RENAULT UK CLIO CUP FINALE
The JamSport Racing team will field no less than seven cars in the Renault UK Clio Cup's final two rounds of 2016 at Brands Hatch in Kent (Sat 1/Sun 2 Oct) with Paul Donkin (Durham) and James Grint (Hertford) joining its line-up.
However seven cars is believed to the most any one team has entered for a UK Clio Cup fixture
Now, though, comes an opportunity to try his racing skills in the hotly-contested UK Clio Cup which uses 220bhp front-wheel-drive racing versions of Renault's potent Clio Renault Sport 220 Trophy model. Furthermore it will be in front of British motor sport's biggest crowds with the UK Clio Cup featuring alongside the high-profile British Touring Car Championship and also being shown live on ITV4.
Grint commented: 'In rallycross you have to be a very good circuit racer on the asphalt as well as on the loose, so coming into circuit racing at a very high level of competition is definitely going to improve my driving. Certainly having looked around the UK Clio Cup stands out as the best championship to dip into – I'm jumping in at the deep end but am also looking forward to it immensely.'
Donkin, whose company's name has featured on Whorton-Eales's car for most of the season, has previously raced in the UK Clio Cup, although his most recent outing was some 18 months ago at his home circuit of Croft.
He said: 'It's been fun supporting Ant and watching from the sidelines but there's nothing like having a go yourself and this great opportunity was too good to miss when it came up. I've been doing pretty well at club level motor sport the past few years but in that time this championship has gone from strength to strength so I'm not expecting an easy ride!'
And added JamSport team boss Jamie Going: 'What a way to end what is effectively only our second season in the Renault UK Clio Cup – going for the title and also running seven cars. Brands Hatch promises to be quite a weekend in JamSport's history.'
Renault Sport UK's Motorsport Championship Manager Will Fewkes said: 'We very much welcome back Paul and also look forward greatly to seeing how James does on his debut – his experience of going doorhandle-to-doorhandle in some tight situations in rallycross could come in very handy! JamSport should also be applauded – it's testament to their very hard efforts and results that they should end the current season on such a strong note.'

The Northants team, which has a chance of winning the drivers' championship with Ant Whorton-Eales (Lichfield), fielded five cars for the first time in its home rounds at Silverstone last weekend.
Grint has become a front-running name in the British Rallycross Championship's top 'Supercar' class for 600bhp four-wheel-drive machinery. He is also the brother of Harry Potter movie actor Rupert Grint.
