Daredevils And Dumbbells: Powerlifting Mum Shortlisted For Škoda 'Tough Mother' Competition•ŠKODA has launched a nationwide search to find the UK's toughest mother to celebrate the launch of the new Octavia Scout

•Milton Keynes local, Ania Czerminska, is a mother, firefighter and powerlifter and has been shortlisted as one of three finalists

•Also in the running is a BMX champion and seasoned rock climber

Milton Keynes, 11 July 2017: Ania Czerminska really does do it all – she is mother to her nine-year-old daughter Maya, a full-time firefighter and part-time powerlifter. There is no denying that Ania is tough, but is she the toughest mother in the UK?

Ania, from Olney, Milton Keynes, is one of three women shortlisted in the final of the ŠKODA UK 'Tough Mother' competition.

She works as a firefighter with Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service, and started power lifting after her daughter was diagnosed with a neuro-muscular condition. This means that Ania and her husband have to lift her in and out of a mobility chair. Ania fell in love with the sport, and is now set to compete in a number of competitions.

Ania said: 'It would mean a lot to me to win the Tough Mother title. I started power lifting so I could always be strong for my daughter. I never expected to enjoy it as much as I did and it has undoubtedly helped me with my fitness and strength – attributes that are essential for any firefighter, but also to help look after Maya.'

Ania was entered into the competition in secret by her husband, Marcin.

Marcin said, 'As soon as I saw the post about the competition from ŠKODA, I knew I had to enter Ania. She is not only an amazing mother to our daughter, but she risks her life everyday as a firefighter, as well as finding time for herself with weightlifting.'

All three women were treated to a VIP filming day in a new ŠKODA Octavia Scout, which is perfectly suited to the demands of family life and extreme sports because of its ability to transport large amounts of kit and reach remote locations. The Scout Estate boasts a class-leading boot capacity of 1,740 litres with the seats down, off-road functionality and rough-road package. It is priced from £26,685 on-the-road.
