Citroën enjoys growth in 2021 UK passenger car market• According to registration figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders earlier today, the Citroën passenger car range enjoyed growth of 7.6% in 2021.

•New ë-C4 Electric and New C4 models made a strong contribution to sales, becoming the brand's second best-selling passenger car last year (after the well-established C3 supermini).

•2022 marks another exciting year for the brand in the UK with New C5 X, Ami Electric and Ami Cargo all planned for launch in the first half of the year.

In a UK car market that grew by a modest 1.0% in 2021, Citroën sales increased by 7.6%.

Citroën's passenger car market share enjoyed growth as a result, with the brand posting an increased market share of +0.1 percentage points in 2021.

Citroën's impressive performance last year was underpinned by strong incremental sales of New ë-C4 Electric and New C4 – the latest all-new model to be added to the brand's line-up. The year saw the model's sales grow strongly from launch in February 2021, securing second place in the brand's UK rankings for full year sales. Importantly, demand for New ë-C4 Electric continued to grow apace throughout the year, with nearly a quarter of new C4's sold in the UK being 100% battery-electric.

Demand for upper trim levels of New ë-C4 Electric and New C4 continues to be a factor, with over 70% of UK buyers opting for 'Shine' and 'Shine Plus' versions since launch. UK buyers choosing these top trim levels enjoy features such as LED headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, front and rear parking sensors, colour reversing camera, head-up display and Citroën Connect Nav, all as standard. Range topping 'Shine Plus' variants feature leather upholstery and a Hi-Fi speaker system with sub-woofer.

Practicality and comfort all wrapped up in a striking design – New ë-C4 Electric and New C4 are already a firm favourite among drivers in the UK.

Elsewhere in the range, C3 supermini enjoyed another positive result, holding its position as the best-selling Citroën model in the UK. Having received a significant facelift in September 2020, C3 offers B-segment buyers an exceptionally distinctive and comfortable proposition with a wide variety of personalisation options available.
