October 7, 2014 by Volkswagen◾3.0 percent increase in January - September deliveries ◾Deliveries in China for first three quarters exceed two million for first time Wolfsburg, October 7, 2014 – Volkswagen Passenger Cars delivered 4.56 (January-September 2013: 4.43; +3.0 percent) million vehicles in the first three quarters of this year. 'The Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand is benefiting above all from good developments in Western Europe and the continued positive trend in China, where we handed over more than two million models to customers in the first three quarters for the first time', Christian Klingler, Board Member for Sales and Marketing for the Volkswagen Group and the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand, said in Wolfsburg on Tuesday. 'This contrasts with the current uncertainties in Russia and the market downturn in South America; Volkswagen, too, was not entirely immune to these developments last month', Klingler added. Despite all the challenges, the brand showed a slight upward trend, handing over 534,800 (September 2013: 533,700; +0.2 percent) vehicles to customers in September. Volkswagen Passenger Cars delivered 1.26 (1.23; +2.8 percent) million vehicles on the overall European market from January to September, of which 648,300 (616,400; +5.2 percent) units were handed over to customers in Western Europe (excluding Germany). There was also a rise in deliveries on the home market of Germany, where customers took possession of 430,100 (410,300; +4.8 percent) new vehicles in the period to September. Deliveries in Central and Eastern Europe decreased to 181,400 (198,900; -8.8 percent) units as a result of the uncertainties in the region. The company handed over 93,800 (117,200; -20.0 percent) vehicles to customers in Russia. Volkswagen Passenger Cars delivered 432,700 (470,000; -8.0 percent) vehicles in the North America region in the first three quarters, of which 270,900 (314,800; -14.0 percent) were handed over to customers in the USA. Deliveries in the South America region in the period to September fell by 19.3 percent to 488,000 (604,600) units, of which 396,600 (461,200; -14.0 percent) were handed over to customers in Brazil. The brand reported a 13.8 percent increase in deliveries in the Asia-Pacific region from January to September, handing over 2.22 (1.95) million vehicles to customers there, of which 2.07 (1.79; +15.3 percent) million units were delivered in China (incl. Hong Kong), the region's largest single market, marking the first time that deliveries for this period topped the two million mark.
