Having starred alongside Hollywood greats Dudley Moore, Liza Minnelli and John Gielgud, a 1956 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith touring limousine featured in the 1980s blockbuster hit Arthur will be sold during Auctions America by RM's Collector Cars of Fort Lauderdale auction, March 16-18, at the Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
'We're bringing a touch of ‘Old Hollywood' charm to South Florida,' said Donnie Gould, president of Auctions America. 'This '56 Rolls-Royce personifies the glamour and prestige of a golden era. Collectors will appreciate both its celebrity provenance as well as its beautiful coachwork.'
Originally delivered on July 10, 1956, to Mme. A.W. Frink at the Hotel Plaza Athenee in Paris, this Rolls-Royce limousine's coachwork was completed by builder H.J. Mulliner. Following its original debut, the Rolls-Royce made its way to the United States and onto the movie set of Arthur. The British car wore its New York license plate of 'ARTHUR' until it arrived in the South, where it was licensed in Florida under the same name.
'This Rolls-Royce has been kept in excellent condition and was recently refurbished by its present owner to look as pristine as it did while filming Arthur,' added Gould. 'A show-quality vehicle, the Rolls-Royce has been shown at the Winter Park and Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance. It is the perfect centerpiece for any serious collection of automobiles or movie memorabilia.'
