The Coalition of Monterey County Chambers of Commerce held a special reception February 16 to present Gill Campbell, CEO/general manager of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca with the 2012 Economic Leadership Award. The recognition was for Campbell's dedicated leadership in economic development and contribution of substantial resources to chambers of commerce throughout the Monterey county region.

'I am truly honored and touched by this award,' said Campbell. 'I am not accustomed to being singled out. It is honestly the work of my staff and the volunteers of the Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula that have allowed for this acknowledgment.'

Special recognition was also bestowed to Campbell by Congressman Sam Farr, California State Senator Sam Blakeslee, Assemblyman Bill Monning and the Monterey County Board of Supervisors.
