Fan-Friendly-American-Le-Mans-Series-Returns-to-Mazda-Raceway  Activities Abound Throughout Race Weekend

– With fast cars, interactive displays, fireworks, autograph sessions and so much more, there is ample action for spectators during the American Le Mans Monterey, presented by Patron May 11-12, both on and off the race track.

Featuring multiple classes of high-tech sports cars competing together, the American Le Mans Series sees constant passing and on-track battles throughout each race. The six hour endurance race takes competitors from daylight to dusk and into the darkness, pushing drivers' and crews' mental and physical abilities.

This is the 14th consecutive year at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca for the American Le Mans Series, bringing with it plenty of entertaining fan activities.

Wednesday, May 9

The monthly Twilight Cycling presented by Rabobank (5:30-7:30 p.m.) allows cyclists to experience the excitement of pedaling Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca – including the legendary Corkscrew turn that drops an equivalent of 5 1/2 stories. Helmets are required and the cost is $10 per rider. Several American Le Mans Series teams are expected to participate in the fun.

Thursday, May 10

An afternoon autograph session provides a chance to meet and receive autographs from the drivers of the Cadillac Pirelli World Challenge (12:15-1:15 p.m.). Later that evening (5:00-8:00 p.m.) the annual Community Chamber Mixer will be held at the Red Bull Energy Center. For just $10 for Monterey area chamber members and $20 for non-members, attendees can mix and mingle with area business leaders and American Le Mans Series drivers and staff. Light hors d'oeuvres and beverages will be provided and a raffle will showcase items including Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca race tickets and apparel and American Le Mans Series merchandise.

Friday, May 11

Cooper Tires Prototype Lites (TBA) and IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama (TBA) drivers will be on hand for autograph sessions. Tech Talks provide detailed and entertaining chats with the drivers about their high-performance race cars. Fans can visit with Dyson Racing at 1:00 p.m. and Extreme Speed Motorsports at 1:30 p.m. at their transporters.

Saturday, May 12

Paddock fan activities begin Saturday morning from 11:05 a.m.-11:45 p.m., with an autograph session with all American Le Mans Series drivers and teams. Starting at 11:30 a.m., Dyson Racing will hold a live auction of team gear at their transporter with all proceeds benefiting the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer. Additionally, from 11:30-1:25 p.m. there will be an autograph session with all the drivers and reams from the Mazda MX-5 Cup.

Two spectator favorites are on tap Saturday; the Fan Grid Walk at 12:30 p.m. which allows for the opportunity to walk the starting grid with the American Le Mans Series drivers and teams just minutes before the green flag as well as, for the first time ever, fans can add their personalized message or autograph to the start/finish line and of course; the popular blast of fireworks at the conclusion of the six-hour endurance race.
