Auctions America By RM's Spring Carlisle Auction Kicks off 2012 Northeastern U.S. Collector Car Season

Auctions America by RM will return to the Carlisle Expo Center in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, on April 26-27, 2012, to kick off the collector car season for the Northeastern U.S. with its Spring Carlisle auction. Featuring nearly 300 American hot rods, muscle cars, classics and memorabilia during its two-day sale, the Spring Carlisle auction is held in conjunction with the Spring Carlisle Collector Car Swap Meet & Corral (April 25-29), hosted each year by Carlisle Events. The auction is one of several activities held during the weekend. 'Enthusiasts have gathered in Carlisle for decades to celebrate the collector car hobby,' said Donnie Gould, Auctions America by RM president. 'We teamed with Carlisle Events again to bring our exciting auction action to the weekend and give collectors another way to enjoy the multi-faceted event. With our two-day sale, featuring the greatest American marques, people will have an opportunity to take home the ultimate souvenir – a great car from Auctions America.' One featured vehicle is a 1964 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Spyder (est. $12,000 - $16,000) that features all the innovations that made the Corvair such a standout in the American car field when introduced such as a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. This restored '64 has many factory options and a clear Plexiglas lid over the engine compartment for easy viewing of the 150-hp flat-six. Muscle cars will also be popular this year at the auction, including a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro convertible (est. $22,000 - $28,000) finished in the original code 51 Dusk Blue. The Camaro is powered by a 327-cid V-8 engine that is mated to an automatic transmission. 'From entry-level cars to premium rides, the line-up of collectible vehicles available this year will satisfy any enthusiast's appetite,' added Gould. 'It's a great opportunity for people to purchase a car they dreamed about when they were kids. Our amazing variety of automobiles will generate buzz throughout the hobby.' A few of the vehicles available from Auctions America by RM include: • a red 1963 Triumph TR4 (est. $20,000 - $25,000) with black interior whose extras include chrome wire wheels, seatbelts, a photo album of its restoration and thorough documentation of its history; • an Ivy Green 1970 Plymouth 'Cuda 440 (est. $55,000 - $70,000) that comes with the U-code 440-cid, 375-hp V-8 engine and has its original Carter carburetor and • a red 1969 Ford Mustang GT convertible (est. $35,000 to $45,000) with 390-cid V-8, automatic transmission and power brakes, steering and top. 'Once again, Auctions America by RM will bring a great array of cars to Carlisle, and this year's Spring Carlisle auction will be just as exciting as last year's,' noted Bill Miller III, partner and senior manager of Carlisle Events. Preview day is scheduled for Wednesday, April 25, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. EDT. The auction is scheduled for 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. on both Thursday, April 26, and Friday, April 27.
