Auctions America by RM will celebrate its second annual Spring Carlisle auction, April 26-27, 2012, offering a huge variety of collector cars and trucks during the Spring Carlisle Collector Car Swap Meet & Corral, April 25-29, in Pennsylvania. More than 300 American muscle cars, classics and hot rods will cross the block at the Carlisle Expo Center, located adjacent to the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds.
'Countless automotive aficionados flock to Carlisle each year to purchase and sell cars they can't find at any other auction,' said Donnie Gould, president of Auctions America by RM. 'We're excited to be a part of Carlisle's growing tradition and offer the type of collector cars that appeal to these enthusiasts. The classic American rides we'll have for sale are popular among bidders because they can drive them off the block, enjoy them at home and show them off at Carlisle year after year.'
Enthusiasts in attendance will be buzzing about the James E. Craft Collection, featuring 15 luxury and sports cars representing the 1940s through the '80s. One such vehicle is a Snowshoe White 1955 Ford Thunderbird convertible (est. $18,000 - $22,000) powered by a 292-cid, 190-hp V-8 engine. Other cars from this collection range from a 1957 Nash Metropolitan coupe (est. $4,000 - $6,000) to a 1965 Ford Mustang GT convertible (est. $35,000 - $42,500).
The combination of initials 'G,' 'T' and 'O' never fails to excite, and the Starlight Black 1970 Pontiac GTO coupe (est. $25,000 - $30,000) on offer atCarlisle will arouse interest among GM performance enthusiasts with its 400-cid, 350-hp V-8 engine and four-speed manual transmission.
Foreign intrigue comes by way of a 1974 Jaguar XKE roadster (est. $60,000 - $70,000), a low-slung British sports car powered by a 245-hp V-12engine mated to a four-speed manual transmission. The Primrose Yellow beauty has been stored in a climate-controlled environment its entire life and registers only 21,000 miles on the odometer.
Auction action isn't the only activity generating buzz for the weekend. Carlisle Events will also offer a collector car swap meet and car corral at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds. With more than 8,100 vendor spaces, the event is the largest car corral and swap meet in the world. Vendors from across the country meet during the five-day celebration to purchase car parts that are perfect for a restoration or do-it-yourself automotive project.
'The car corral and swap meet spaces reach a near-soldout capacity each year,' said Carlisle Events Media Specialist Mike Garland. 'The reputation of the event continues to draw buyers and sellers alike from all corners of the globe to America's Automotive Hometown. Better yet, with Auctions America by RM involved once more with the two-day auction, the weekend is a can't-miss for automotive enthuisatss of all ages.'
For the first time ever, Carlisle will also host Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Northeast Regional Qualifying. High school students from the surrounding areas will compete to go to Nationals at the SEMA automotive trade show in Las Vegas this fall. Based on accuracy and speed, the competition features each team tearing down and rebuilding its assigned hot rod.
'These types of activities allow young enthusiasts to get excited about the collector car hobby,' noted Gould. 'It teaches them how to appreciate classic cars from the inside out. We hope one day these students will become collectors themselves and be just as passionate about automobiles as we are, whether it's buying their first vehicle or restoring a barn find back to its glory days. Just like Carlisle Events, we want to grow the hobby for the next generation.'
Tickets to the auction are available for $10, which will allow visitors to access the auction and the events taking place at the nearby Carlisle PAFairgrounds, such as the swap meet, car corral and the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow engine build competition. The auction will stream live online at www.auctionsamerica.com to provide real-time coverage of the event.
Internet, absentee and telephone bidding options are available for those unable to attend the event in person. Full event details and a list of auction offerings are available online at www.auctionsamerica.com or by calling toll free 877-906-2437 (or +1 260-927-9797 outside North America).
