• European success mirrored in other key global markets

Frankfurt, April 18, 2012 – For the tenth successive month, Kia's sales in Europe* have outperformed the market, with the company recording an increase of 17.3 per cent in March compared to the same period last year. The figures, released by ACEA, mean that Kia retains its position as the fastest-growing mainstream brand in the region.

Fuelled by the introduction of a number of stylish new models, Kia's European sales for the first quarter of 2012 are also up 24.6 per cent.

'Kia's strategy of offering desirable, efficient and well-built cars backed by an industry-leading 7-year warranty is clearly hitting all the right notes with European buyers,' comments Benny Oeyen, Vice President Marketing and Product Planning, Kia Motors Europe.

'Since May 2011, Kia has achieved year-on-year sales growth of between 7.6 and 35.6 per cent every single month. The results are even more impressive when viewed against the backdrop of the wider automotive industry, which saw sales fall by 6.6 per cent in March and 7.3 per cent for the first quarter of the year.

'Our Picanto, Rio and Sportage models in particular have performed strongly and we expect the new generation Kia cee'd to attract even more customers to our brand as it goes on sale across Europe in the coming months,' Oeyen concludes.

Outside of Europe, Kia also recorded year-on-year growth in other key markets, with total global sales up 13.4 per cent in March. North America, China and General Markets** regions achieved increases of 29.4 per cent, 19.1 per cent and 8 per cent respectively compared to 2011.
