Nissan Production, Sales, Export Results for March 2012 and Fiscal Year 2011

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced production, sales and export figures for March 2012, as well as the cumulative figures for the 12-month period from April 2011 through March 2012.

1. Production

March 2012

Nissan's global production in March increased 23.0% year-on-year to 470,680 units, marking an all-time record for a single month.

Production in Japan increased 111.8% year-on-year to 100,814 units, due to a rebound in production after the impact of the earthquake in Japan last year, in addition to increased exports of Rogue and increased demand for Juke, Serena and X-Trail.

Production outside of Japan increased 10.4% year-on-year to 369,866 units, marking an all-time record for a single month.

In the U.S., production decreased 3.3% year-on-year to 57,617 units.

In Mexico, production increased 18.8% year-on-year to 62,908 units, due to increased demand for the new Versa and March.

In the U.K., production decreased 1.0% year-on-year to 44,972 units.

In Spain, production decreased 11.6% year-on-year to 13,228 units.

In China, production increased 19.5% year-on-year to 137,983 units, mainly due to increased demand for Teana, Tiida, Sunny and Qashqai, marking an all-time record for a single month.

Production in other regions increased 14.0% year-on-year to 53,158 units, mainly due to increased demand for the new Sunny in India and the new Almera in Thailand.

April 2011 - March 2012

Global production for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2012, increased 14.7% year-on-year to 4,834,488 units, marking an all-time record for the April-March period.

Production in Japan increased 11.8% year-on-year to 1,198,826 units, mainly due to increased exports of Rogue and Juke and increased demand for Serena.

Production outside of Japan increased 15.7% year-on-year to 3,635,662 units, marking an all-time record for the April-March period.

Production increased in the U.S., Mexico, the U.K., Spain and China. In China, production increased 18.6% year-on-year to 1,275,551 units, marking an all-time record for the April-March period.

In other regions, production increased 16.6% year-on-year to 491,851 units, mainly due to increased demand for the new Sunny in India and the new Almera in Thailand.

2. Sales

March 2012

Global sales increased 20.5% year-on-year to 587,286 units, marking an all-time record for a single month.

Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 100,832 units in Japan, up 66.4% year-on-year, due to a rebound in sales after the impact of the earthquake in Japan last year, and increased demand for models which qualify for the government subsidy program for environmentally-friendly vehicles.

In Japan, vehicle registrations in March increased 77.6% year-on-year to 81,134 units, mainly due to increased demand for Serena, Note and Cube, which qualify for the government subsidy program for environmentally-friendly vehicles.

Mini-vehicle sales in Japan increased 32.3% year-on-year to 19,698 units, mainly due to strong sales of Moco.

Sales outside of Japan increased 14.0% year-on-year to 486,454 units, marking an all-time record for a single month.

Sales in the U.S. increased 12.5% year-on-year to 136,317 units, due to increased demand for Altima, Rogue and Versa.

In Europe, sales increased 9.2% year-on-year to 87,453 units, due to favorable sales in Russia and increased demand for Qashqai and Juke.

In China, sales saw an increase of 13.3% year-on-year to 131,841 units, due to increased demand for Teana, Tiida, Sunny and Qashqai, marking an all-time record for a single month.

Sales in other regions increased 19.5% year-on-year to 98,589 units, mainly due to increased demand in Brazil, India and Thailand.

April 2011 - March 2012

Global sales increased 15.0% year-on-year to 4,880,779 units, marking an all-time record for the April-March period.

Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 655,364 units in Japan, up 9.2% year-on-year, despite the effects of the earthquake. This is due to increased demand for models which qualify for the government subsidy program for environmentally-friendly vehicles. Market share was up 0.8 percentage points year-on-year to 13.8%.

In Japan, Nissan's vehicle registrations from April 2011 to March 2012 increased 9.7% from the previous year to 503,214 units, mainly due to increased demand for Serena, Juke and Lafesta Highway Star.

Domestic sales of mini-vehicles increased 7.5% year-on-year to 152,150 units, mainly due to increased demand for Moco.

Sales outside of Japan increased 15.9% year-on-year to 4,225,415 units, marking an all-time record for the April-March period.

Sales increased in the U.S., Europe, China and other regions. In China, sales increased 19.0% year-on-year to 1,283,679 units, marking an all-time record for the April-March period.

3. Japan Exports

3/1/2012

Nissan's exports in March increased 11.8% year-on-year to 46,680 units.

Exports to North America increased 22.2% year-on-year to 26,285 units, mainly due to increased demand for Rogue and Murano.

Exports to Europe decreased 22.5% year-on-year to 4,612 units.

April 2010 - March 2011

Nissan's exports from April 2011 to March 2012 increased 8.8% year-on-year to 741,388 units.

Exports to North America increased 13.3% year-on-year to 434,042 units, mainly due to increased demand for Rogue and Juke.

Exports to Europe increased 25.9% year-on-year to 99,164 units, mainly due to favorable sales in Russia and increased demand for X-Trail.
