Organizers of the Concours d'Elegance of Texas are counting down to one of the state's biggest vintage motoring and luxury lifestyle events, scheduled to run from May 4-6. Visitors can look forward to a spectacular gathering of rare and exotic motorcars, historic military machinery, sports and racecars, antique motorcycles, vintage tractors, and even the odd stagecoach, promising a weekend celebration of classic motoring that offers something for the whole family. The Concours d'Elegance of Texas is on Sunday, May 6, and is held in conjunction with Worldwide Auctioneers' 11th annual Houston Classic Auction, scheduled for Saturday, May 5, when over 100 fine motorcars are slated to go under the hammer. Staged on the beautiful grounds of award winning resort La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa in Montgomery, visitors also get the chance to enjoy the waterpark, extensive spa, lakeside facilities and great restaurants of this world-class resort that are usually reserved for the exclusive use of hotel guests, all whilst experiencing a unique and eclectic gathering of some of the most interesting vehicles on the planet.
'It's not every day that you get to see a FV433 Abbot 105mm Tracked Howitzer military tank and 1968 'Military Mule' parked alongside a very rare 1935 Mercedes-Benz 500/540k, an awesome 1966 Porsche 906 Carrera Competition Coupe racecar and a 1951 Horex Regina 350 motorcycle,' said Lolly Bezy, Executive Director. 'You can also join us for the unveiling of Beatle George Harrison's legendary 1965 Aston Martin DB5, recently bought by a mystery collector in Texas that will go on display in the USA for the very first time here at the Concours. We are even offering a chance to be photographed in it. We'll also be delighted to introduce you to the 'King Cobra,' 'Copperhead' and 'Water Moccasin;' an extraordinary trio of hand built tribute Cobra sportscars finished in dazzling bronze, copper and aluminum, another of our great special displays. Bring your family, bring your cameras, and come have an unforgettable weekend helping us raise some serious money for charity.'
The Concours d'Elegance of Texas is a 501(c)(3) non-profit. Proceeds from the event will benefit its primary charities, Texas Children's Hospital and the Collectors Foundation, as well as helping to raise funds for Faith Comes by Hearing, an organization that produces the Military BibleStick.
The Houston Classic weekend runs from May 4 -May 6, kicking off with the Texas Tour d'Elegance on Friday, May 4, when Concours participants take to the open road on a 50 mile scenic tour through historic Montgomery and surrounds.
