Mugello-Test---Day-One  Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher were both in action today as the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS team began this week's test programme with the F1 W03 car at the Mugello circuit in Italy.

• With poor weather hitting the circuit, Nico completed 49 laps in the morning session in changeable conditions

• The team were able to use the time to work on set-up with the intermediate tyres, switching to dry hours for the last hour

• Conditions deteriorated in the afternoon, and Michael was only able to use the wet tyres for limited data collection work

Mugello-Test---Day-One   • He completed only 5 laps and the team finished the programme early in order to prepare the car for tomorrow

Michael will continue at the wheel of the F1 W03 tomorrow, with Nico concluding the test on Thursday.

Nico Rosberg

'It was a good session for me this morning and a positive start to our testing programme. It's nice to see that we have some new parts for the car and that the ongoing process of in-season developments is working well. We were able to learn some things in the wet conditions this morning which is always useful, and we picked up a few lessons. Mugello is an impressive track which is very fast and good fun to drive. It's also good preparation for the next race in Barcelona with the high-speed corners. I'm looking forward to getting back in the car again on Thursday and continuing our programme.'

Michael Schumacher

'Unfortunately we were not able to achieve much productive work on the track this afternoon as the weather made it nearly impossible to drive. Therefore it's good that we collected some data this morning so that we can prepare the car in the best possible way for tomorrow. This afternoon, I was literally able just go out to check if it made sense to run – which it did not - and at least I could show the spectators who were waiting in the rain a running car for some short moments. Still, it was nice being back in Mugello after so many years, and I must say it was also nice being welcomed back by the tifosi so warmly.'

MONACO GP - DANCING IN THE STREETS  MONACO GP - DANCING IN THE STREETS

Monaco, 23 May – It's part of the nature of Formula 1 and sport in general in the modern era, that what happens off the court, pitch or track can sometimes take on even more importance than the sport itself, with gossip, rumour and controversy dominating the headlines. However, on a beautiful day with clear skies and warm sunshine, the first time 22 Formula 1 dance around the track on the streets of the Principality of Monte Carlo provides a glorious reminder of what a fantastic sporting ....
MONACO GP - ALL VERY CLOSE  MONACO GP - ALL VERY CLOSE

Monaco, 23 May – Nico Rosberg had the honour of topping the first Monaco Grand Prix timesheet of the weekend. He set the fastest time in the first free practice session of the sixth round of the World Championship, which as always here takes place on Thursday, with Friday being a day with no F1 track action. On this the most glamorous and exciting circuit on the calendar, the gaps between the front runners are all very close. Rosberg did a 1.16.195 in the Mercedes ahead of Fernando Alonso who to....

Monaco, 23 May –The Mercedes duo of Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton topped the time sheet ahead of the Alonso-Massa red tandem at the end of the second free practice session today. Fernando was third in 1.15.196, which was 0.437 off Rosberg's time. Massa was fourth with a 1.15.278.

Going into the traditional Monegasque 'day off' tomorrow, the hierarchy in terms of what to expect in qualifying is not yet clearly defined. This session had to be red flagged after 37 minutes, so that the k....
Usually In The Red In Monaco  Usually In The Red In Monaco

Maranello, 20 May – It's been many, too many years since the roulette wheel has stopped on Red in Monte Carlo. The last time a Ferrari won the Monaco Grand Prix was back in 2001, when Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello secured an amazing one-two. Since then, no Ferrari has been first past the chequered flag, even in those years when Maranello's technical superiority seemed beyond doubt, such as 2002 and 2004.

However, there have been plenty of podium finishes in the past eleven....
Grand Prix Circuits: Pau Circuit  Grand Prix Circuits: Pau Circuit

Some grand prix circuits just have a mythical status about them. Besides the drivers and great races, a lot of the equation comes down to how memorable the circuit truly is. In the case of the Pau Circuit, its sheer place in motorsport history and lore makes this tight, twisting circuit a true legend.

From its very beginnings, Pau would be at the heart of travel and transportation. Situated in a rather deep valley with the Pyrenees mountains lending an imposing back-drop, the area that would ....
THE HORSE WHISPERER – TYRED AND EMOTIONAL  THE HORSE WHISPERER – TYRED AND EMOTIONAL

These are difficult times for people with poor memories. Maybe it's because of the huge amount of information available today that people are too quick to talk, forgetting things that happened pretty much in the recent past. Or maybe the brain cells that control memory only operate selectively, depending on the results achieved on track by their owners.

A classic example of this is the current saga regarding the number of pit stops. Voices have been raised to underline the fact that various ....
SPANISH GP - FIRST DOUBLE PODIUM OF THE YEAR  SPANISH GP - FIRST DOUBLE PODIUM OF THE YEAR

Montmelo, 12 May – The Spanish crowd got what they wanted today at the Catalunya circuit, as Fernando Alonso drove brilliantly to secure his first win here in Barcelona since 2006. Adding to the delight in the Prancing Horse garage, Felipe Massa made sure that two Ferrari drivers were on the podium for the first time this season with a fantastic drive from a grid-penalised ninth place to third at the end of the 66 laps. Splitting the two men in red was the Flying Finn, Kimi Raikkonen. The....

Sebastian Vettel retained his lead in the fight for the Formula One Drivers' Championship with fourth place at the Spanish Grand Prix, while Mark Webber improved from seventh at the start to a well-deserved fifth place.

After qualifying third, Seb made a great start to pass Lewis Hamilton for second place and set about chasing down pole winner and leader Nico Rosberg. However, in his first stop Sebastian lost his position to Alonso and dropped back. Alonso soon passed Rosberg for the lead and....
