1964 Alfa Romeo Giulia Series 101 Spider Roadster

This car has been restored back to proper factory standards. It left the factory finished in red with a black interior. It was built in July of 1964 and sold to US Alfa distributor ARI in Newark, New Jersey. In 1973, after experiencing some engine difficulties, the car was taken off the road and purchased by another Arizona resident who began re build that was not completed. At that time, the original engine was removed and discarded. The car later passed to another Arizona resident, in December of 1975. The owner would keep the car until 1988, selling it, still in project condition, to Bruce Begley of Alfa Romeo specialists Arizona Twin Cam. Mr. Begley began a restoration, but would sell it to Dyke Ridgely of Illinois prior to the work being completed. From August 1989 to June of 1990, a comprehensive and cosmetic restoration to original factory standards was carried out for Mr. Ridgely. A correct engine was located and rebuilt together with the gearbox, suspension, fuel, braking and electrical systems. The completed Giulia Spider was shown at the Alfa Romeo Owners Club (AROC) National Concours in 1990 where it won First in Class. A year later, it was shown at the Meadow Brook Concours d'Elegance.

In 2010, this car was offered for sale at Gooding & Company's Scottsdale Auction in Arizona. It was estimated to sell for $45,000 - $65,000. The lot was sold for the sum of $82,500, inclusive of buyer's premium.
