This unique and rare 1952 Volkswagen was part of a five month run of Beetles that made up the transition from the early split-window cars to the following, oval rear-window style. Built from October 1, 1952 through March 10, 1953, the 'Zwitter', short for the German word 'Zwitterkafer,' had the old split-window body, the new dashboard from the upcoming Oval cars, and other Zwitter-only parts, such as a unique dome light and other interior pieces.
