1940 Tatra T87 Aerodynamic Saloon

This Tatra T87 was originally owned by an American G.I., who had it exported to the United States after V-E Day. It was purchased in 2002 from his daughter in New England. Since then, the car has been carefully restored with the engine rebuilt to its original specifications. Upon completion, this T87 was put on display at the 2008 Milwaukee Masterpiece Concours d'Elegance.

It is powered by a 2970cc single overhead cam air-cooled magnesium alloy V8 engine that can be found in the rear of the car. There are a four-speed manual gearbox and an independent front suspension with swing-axles in the rear. Four-wheel drum brakes provide the stopping power for this 124-inch wheelbase vehicle.

In 2009, this Tatra T87 Sedan was offered for sale at the Automobiles of Amelia Island auction presented by RM Auctions. It was estimated to sell for $100,000 - $125,000. The lot was sold for a high bid of $121,000, including buyer's premium.
