The enormous (145 inch wheelbase) but graceful Phantom is the culmination of the coachbuilders art. They were much admired by royalty and the super-rich of the day.
In 1935, Rolls-Royce replaced the Phantom II with the Phantom III to meet the growing competition from European and American manufacturers with V12, V8 and inline power units. Switching to a larger V12 engine was Royce's last major contribution to Rolls-Royce.
The ultra-exclusive Phantom V's were made during the 1960s with a total of 516 units produced. These cars were used by royalty such as Queen Elizabeth, the King of Norway, Governor of Hong Kong, and even John Lennon.
