1966 Ferrari 500 SuperfastThe 500 Superfast, introduced at the Geneva Auto Show in 1964, represented the pinnacle of luxury road-going Ferraris. As such, it was the last of a line that began in 1956 with the 410 Superamerica, and by 1960, had advanced to the 400 Superamerica. With a claimed 400 horsepower from its almost five-liter Columbo-based V12 engine, the 500 Superfast was claimed to reach 168 mph while offering a high degree of luxury. Thirty-six Superfast coupes were built through 1966, spanning two series; there were no cabriolets. Chassis, suspension and running gear were typical for Ferraris of the day, with independent front suspension and a live rear axle. The transmission was a five-speed all-synchromesh manual box, and disc brakes provided the stopping power. This car was originally owned by J. von Neumann, and is the fourth from last Superfast built.
