Dodge is a brand name of automobiles and light to heavy-duty trucks. From 1914 to 1927, the company was named the Dodge Brothers Motor Vehicle Company. The Chrysler Corporation acquired the Dodge Company in 1928. In 1998, Dodge, along with all other Chrysler subsidiaries merged with Daimler-Benz.
In 1935, Dodge introduced the new DU valve six-cylinder engine with revised coachwork styling and 116-inch wheelbase.

'New Value Six' - When the two Dodge brothers, John and Horace, decided to announce the manufacture of a new car bearing their own name after having spent many years supplying Ford with engines, even they must have been surprised at the response. More than 22,000 applications for dealer contracts swamped their offices in Hamtramck, MI before anyone knew what kind of car would be built or what price it would be. The first Dodge automobile was produced on November 14, 1914. The 1935 DU features a 217.8 cubic-inch Straight-6 that developed 87 horsepower. It had a new innovation of a concealed radiator cap.
