The Baur Targa/Convertible BMW 323i was built for the European market only, with a total of 1,152 examples produced. The Baur was a factory authorized cabrio version built by Baur, a coachbuilder in Stuttgart Germany that had been building BMW convertibles since the 1930s.
This example is powered by a 2.3-liter, inline six-cylinder engine mated to a close-ratio five-speed manual gearbox.
The E21 3-Series BMW was produced from 1975 through 1983. It was introduced as a replacement for the very popular 2002 coupe. The E21 made its debut at the 1977 Frankfurt Motor Show. It was fitted with a new six-cylinder M20 engine.
