    1977 Dodge Monaco

1977 Dodge MonacoAfter driving Chrysler products for many years, this was the last one Richard Petty drove in competition. Financial problems at Chrysler dictated this change for Petty Racing.

Although this Dodge was competitive, Richard Petty never won a race in this car. His son, Kyle Petty, at the age of 18, won his first race at the 1979 Daytona ARCA 200 in this Dodge Monaco, at the time becoming the youngest driver to win a major league stock car race.

The car was loaned and put on display by H.A. 'Humpy' Wheeler, President and General Manager of the Charlotte Motor Raceway. In about 1995, the present owner received a call and purchased this Petty Dodge.

As recent as 2007, the car has raced in the vintage NASCAR series, including Lime Rock.
