1971 Ferrari 312PBThis vehicle shares the same engine, transmission and suspension with the Formula 1 car.

After its sister car was destroyed in the first race of the 1971 season, this car became Ferrari's sole entry in the remaining twelve races of the World Sportscar Championship. Driven by Jackie Ickx, Clay Regazzoni, and Mario Andretti, the 3 liter 312 PB was usually quicker than the 5-liter Porsche 917s and Ferrari 512s. However, a combination of mechanical problems and accidents kept the 312PB out of the winner's circle. Finally at the last race of the season, in South Africa, the car achieved the first 312PB victory for Ferrari. The opposition was two Porsche 917s and a second factory 312PB that was appearing for the first time. Clay Regazzoni and Brian Redman overcame a 2 lap penalty for having more than the permitted number of mechanics working on the car and finished first followed by the other 312PB, a Chevron B19, and a Porsche 917. For the following season Ferrari built six more cars to the same specifications and went on to win ten out of ten races entered and the 1972 Sportscar Championship.
