This car was given a restoration, and upon completion in 2004, the car was put on display at the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegant. The car earned the judge's admiration winning Best in Class. The owner at the time, Mr. Ballard, sold this grey SL to Mr. Scott Lutgert, the son of Florida collector, Ray Lutgert.

In 2010, this Mercedes-Benz was offered for sale at the Gooding & Company Auction held in Amelia Island, Florida. The car was expected to sell for $550,000 - $650,000. As bidding came to a close, the car had been sold for the sum of $671,000, inclusive of buyer's premium.
