1911 Mercedes-Benz 37/90 HPThis car was owned and driven by Ralph DePalma, an Italian who came to America in 1893 and began racing soon after. He was the dirt track king from 1908 through 1911, and was a national champion in 1912 and 1914. In 1914, he beat the great Barney Oldfield in the Vanderbilt Cup. He continued to race this car into the mid-teens.

He then sold this car to Georgia-born light tenor singer James Melton who took a liking to expensive and rare automobiles. He eventually opened the Automara, a vintage car museum in Hypoluxo, Florida.
