1962 was the first year since 1955 for single color Corvettes. This Styling Department Corvette, Shop Order #10224, in Anniversary Gold was completed January 16, 1962 as part of the 50th Anniversary for Chevrolet.
The most notable styling change was the removal of the side cove and most of the body chrome. 1962 was the end for the first generation Corvette and the last year for the curved windshield, exposed headlights, trunk, power top and the 'solid axle' suspension. Standard features did include an electric clock, tachometer, dual exhaust, heater/defroster, seat belts and windshield washer. The most desired engine was the Fuel Injected 370 horsepower 327 but the most popular engine was the carbureted 300 horsepower 327.
