The Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in May 1957, and like its Gullwing predecessor it had a tubular frame, independent suspension and a 3-liter, direct-fuel-injected six-cylinder engine uprated to deliver 240 bhp. Disc brakes and alloy engine were added in 1961. A total of 1,858 roadsters produced, but this car is one of very few alloy bodied examples.
