It wasn't until after Carroll Shelby's racing career was over that the Shelby legend truly began. By dropping the small block Ford 260 engine into the British A.C. Bristol sports car, Shelby created the Cobra, a high performance created to rival the Ferrari and Corvette. Later versions became even more potent with 289 and big block 427 engines.
