1936 Chrysler Imperial Airflow C10 Coupe

The Airflow made its debut at the New York Auto Show in January 1934. The car made automotive history and was a radical departure from anything that preceded it. It had streamlined, art-deco looks, and many technical achievements. Its novel beam and truss design combined lightweight characteristics with superb strength. The interior had 50-inch wide chair-height seats, and in the rear (and for the first time in an automobile), the seat was positioned forward of the rear axle allowing unprecedented room. The engine was placed over the front axle 20 inches further forward than it did in other Chryslers.

The car's dramatic design and after several production glitches arrived, the public lost interest. The Airflow disappeared after 1937 with only 55,000 produced for both Chrysler and DeSoto car lines over four years.

This Airflow is fitted with both a radio and a heater. There is a brown cloth interior and a light yellow exterior.

In 2010, this Chrysler Imperial Airflow Model C-10 was offered for sale at the Vintage Motor Cars of Meadow Brook event presented by RM Auctions. The car was estimated to sell for $50,000 - $70,000. As bidding came to a close, the car had been sold for the sum of $57,200 including the buyer's premium.
