2011 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Coupe

In 2011, owner Dan Davis decided it was time to take Brumos back to its roots and moved the team down from the prototype class to the Grand-Am GT Class. The team signed on the successful driving duo of Andrew Davis and Leh Keen. Campaigning a new 2011 Porsche 911 GT3 cup car proved to be popular with the Brumos fans. 'We race what we sell' was never more true.

The inaugural GT3 Cup season revved up with the 2011 Daytona 24 Hours at the end of January and ran flat out over the course of a dozen venues until the Mid-Ohio finale. Hurley Haywood drove the new car at Daytona with hand-picked drivers Andrew Davis, Leh Keen, and Marc Lieb. Afterward, he focused on managing the Cup team drivers Davis and Keen.

They delivered their first win mid-season at the 6 Hours of The Glen in upstate New York, hitting their stride two months later in northern California at Laguna Seca. There they won pole position, fastest lap, and the race.

Entering the season finale three points out of the lead, qualifying problems with the new car started Davis a dismal 19th. After an electrical problem cost them qualifying positions, Davis made a heroic first-stint drive from 19th on the grid to the front of the pack. The hard-charging Keen then brought it home in fourth place, good for four points and clinching the team and driver championships for Brumos.

Team manager Haywood had one last race on his wish list - the 2012 Daytona 24 Hours. It marked the 50th anniversary of the Rolex 24 at Daytona and an impressive 40th running of the race for Haywood.

He and teammates Davis, Keen, and Lieb finished third on the podium in the GT class. It was Haywood's last drive in a competition race car, and marked 45 years since the skinny kid from Chicago hitched his star to Peter Gregg.

The Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car was the last competitive race car campaigned by Brumos.
