The Miller-Fords are outstanding examples of the creativity and artistry of Harry Miller where form followed function to achieve a rare and special combination of performance and beauty.
This car is powered by a 220 cubic-inch Ford V8 side valve developing 150 horsepower. It ran as number 35 in the 1935 Indy 500, driven by George Bailey, qualified 29th at 113.432 mph and finished 26th.
Later it ran as car number 54 with an Offenhauser engine. In the 1938 Indy, where it was entered by Lew Welch and driven by Herb Ardinger, it qualified 14th at 119.022 mph and finished 6th. In 1939 Indy, driven by Cliff Bergere, qualified 10th at 123.835 and finished 3rd. Between 1942 and 1945, the Indy 500 was abandoned.
The car also ran in the Indy 500 Races in 1940, 1941, and 1946, running as car number 54 with a Novi engine and as number 59 again with a Ford V8.
The current owner purchased the car in 2003.
