1937 Austin Seven Nippy

Up until 1920 the only small cars available were the some what crude cycle cars. The Austin Seven, manufactured by the Austin Motor Company, Ltd., was introduced as an alternative, a car in miniature, made from high quality materials that were normally used for larger Austins. In the next ten years approximately 290,000 'Sevens' were in use.

The 'Nippy', named for its urban maneuverability and size, had a 747cc, straight 4-engine, making it capable of 65 miles per hour, a quarter mile in 27 seconds, and its fuel economy was 40 to 50 miles per Imperial gallon. The 'Nippy' model was produced from 1933 thru 1937 and 682 were manufactured. The 'Nippy' was priced at 152 English pounds sterling.

This car was shown at the 2006 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance where it won its class. It is unresotred, yet excellent, condition.
