1937 Cadillac Series 90 V16 Imperial Sedan

There were fewer than 50 Cadillac V16s produced in 1937, and this example is one of only two Imperial Cabriolets. This imposing car was custom-built for Edgar Mannix, the executive vice president and general manager of MGM Studios. He frequently used it as a 'studio car' for stars working with MGM in the late 1930s and early 1940s. Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh are just two such stars - they used this car during the filming of Gone with the Wind. The other Imperial Cabriolet was sold to John F. Kennedy's father, Ambassador Joseph P. Kennedy, and shipped to London, England.

1937 was the first year for hydraulic brakes and the last year for the powerful 452-cubic inch V16 overhead-valve engine. It was also the last year for the massive, 154-inch wheelbase, the longest ever for an American car.

It sports its original interior, a blind rear quarter, a rare modified 'V' windshield, a padded leather top, a roll-up interior divider window, a rear clock, heaters, and a hidden rear-seat radio. Rumor has it that this car is the only one to have been fitted with a sterling silver Goddess hood ornament. This great piece of history has been well cared for and has only about 34,000 original miles.
