This Porsche was raced in Trans-Am, FIA and pretty much everything else in the 1960s and 1970s by Herbert E. (Bert) Everett. This was one of three totally purpose built race cars built by Porsche to do battle in the Trans-Am series in the United States. The car was delivered through Bob Holbert's garage in Warrington, PA. Holbert prepared the car and supported Bert's racing efforts from 1967 till 1970. The Holbert influence is seen and felt throughout this car; the Aga Blue color, the boxed panel red pin striping and obviously the Holbert #14.
It is believed he entered 119 races, 71 in a Porsche, 35 in some kind of 911, from 1961 to 1975. He competed at Daytona eight times, at Sebring six. His first race in this car appears to have been the Trans-Am at Lime Rock on May 30, 1967 running under the Holbert's Garage umbrella, he finished 6th. At the Bryar 250 in August he won the Under 2-liter class. In March of 1968 he won the Sebring 3-Hours. Second was John Moore's 911 and third, Horst Kwech's Alfa GTA.
In 1970, Bert decided to sell the car to Jeffery Foster. Foster raced the car on a limited basis at The Glen, Bridgehampton, Daytona and other SCCA events. His co-driver was his friend, Bert Everett. The car was run as a 2.0-liter and a 2.5-liter. In the mid-1970's Foster tucked the car away and it slept for 40+ years in his garage.
Now, a full tub-up restoration by Klub Sport Racing has given the car a new life in vintage racing.
