The Jaguar MK II was produced from late 1959 through 1967 and was the company's mid-size flagship vehicle fitted with a 3.8-liter engine. They were one of the world's fastest sports saloon, and soon raced in the British saloon-car scheme. The MK II took the first-ever European Touring Car Championship in 1963 and won its class at the Tour de France from 1960 through 1963.
This particular example is an original left-hand drive export model that was completed in December of 1961 and subsequently titled as a 1963 model prior to purchase by the first owner in Washington, who retained the car until 2009. The car is finished in Opalescent Dark Green with beige trim, the same colors it wears in modern times. It has its factory-equipped automatic gearbox, overdrive, and power steering. It has been treated to restoration work which included a new two-stage finish, new leather upholstery, custom-made interior panels and carpeting, a new heading, and restored woodwork. Mechanical systems were examined with the various components restored or replaced as deemed necessary.
The car has its original glass, instruments, hubcaps, Lucas 'PL' headlamps, Michelin radial tires, Blaupunkt radio, and overdrive. It has an upgraded aluminum radiator and stainless steel exhaust. The 3781cc dual overhead cam six-cylinder engine is fitted with twin SU carburetors and offers 220 horsepower. At all four corners are hydraulic disc brakes.By Daniel Vaughan | Feb 2015
