1967 Exemplar I Concept Coupe

Prior to becoming a concept car, the Exemplar I began as a typical Buick Riviera, including its 430 CID/390 horsepower V-8. Mario Revelli de Beaumont was commissioned to design the car. Not only did he have a racing background, but he had also worked with Ghia, Farina, Castagna, and Fiat, among others. It was built by Coggiola of Turin, Italy, for the Bridgeport (Connecticut) Brass Company division of National Distillers and the Copper Development Corp. to promote the use of brass and copper trim within the automobile industry. Sergio Coggiola honed his skills by working with coachbuilder Pietro Frua for 25 years. During 1967 and 1968, the car toured the auto show circuit around the United States.

There are 11 distinct hues in standard copper alloys that have been applied to the car, ranging from the reddish-orange of raw copper to the golds and browns of brass and bronze. The current owners acquired the car in 1995 and completed its restoration in 2015.
