1935 Chrysler Custom Imerial Airlow Series CW Sedan Limousine

CW Airflows were hand-built to order by LeBaron and cost in excess of $5,500.00 new. They look similar to other Chrysler Airflows but are longer, wider, taller, and heavier and few parts are interchangeable. They are a great example of automotive Art Déco: the body is of streamlined design, the interior door trim is decorated with zebra wood veneer and interior components are plated in satin chrome. The curved windshield was a first on a production car. Records indicate 67 to 100 CWs were built between 1934 and 1937. There are 20 in existence in various conditions.

This car was ordered new by the Knox Gelatine Corporation for use by Mrs. Rose Knox, who founded the successful gelatin business in partnership with her husband. She is pictured beside this car in the December 6, 1936 issue of LIFE magazine on the occasion of her 80th birthday party.
