1959 Ferrari 250 TR59/60 Roadster

This Ferrari TR59/60 (chassis 0774TR) was one of the five Works prototypes built for the 1959 season. It was promptly put into service at Le Mans where it was driven by Jean Behra and Dan Gurney, but failed to finish. It also ran in the Tourist Trophy at Goodwood driven by Phil Hill and Olivier Gendebien. After being updated to new TR59/60 specifications it won its first time out, at the Buenos Aires 1000 km in January 1960 while being piloted by Hill and Cliff Allison. The Ferrari was then loaned to N.A.R.T. for the Sebring 12 Hours, driven by Richie Ginther and Chuck Daigh. Then 0774 TR returned to Le Mans, this time piloted by Olivier Gendebien and Paul Frere, and claimed the overall victory that year.

Eleanor von Neumann acquired 0774 TR from the factory later that year. Its last competitive outing in period would be at the Los Angeles Times Grand Prix at Riverside, once again with Hill behind the wheel.

Currently, it is configured exactly as it was when it won Le Mans in 1960. Like chassis 0770, it was reconfigured for the 1960 season, with fuel tank and back axle shifted forward and the end chopped short. It differs from 0770 because it has a standard exhaust system and its cockpit is configured for smaller drivers. This car won the Buenos Aires Grand Prix in Argentina in January 1960 and it also competed at Sebring, the Tourist Trophy and at Riverside.

Following its initial racing career, the car's V12 was taken out but then reunited with the car in the 1980s. Then owned by Paul Pappalardo, it was restored to its Le Mans - winning specification and raced throughout the 1990s. Its current owner bought the car in 2004 and showed it at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in 2009 along with the other three surviving TR59/60s.
