The Series 38-75 Cadillac was powered by a 346 cubic-inch, L-head V8 engine offering 140 horsepower. They had a three-speed selective synchromesh manual gearbox and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes.
Cadillac had weathered the Great Depression and was one of the few to have survived and managed to thrive. For 1938, the Fleetwood-bodied Series 75 picked up where the Series 70 models of 1936-37 had left off, powering the V-8 Cadillacs and their 141-inch wheelbase lengths. They were offered in a wide variety of open and closed body styles by Fleetwood and had styles that were both modern and aerodynamic. The headlamps and front fenders were more closely integrated than ever before.
This example is finished in formal black with a tan interior. It has never been restored and shows 63,000 original miles.
In 2010, this car was offered for sale at RM Auctions 'Automobiles of Amelia Island' event, where it was estimated to sell for $60,000 - $80,000 and offered without reserve. As bidding came to a close, the car had been sold for the sum of $37,000, inclusive of the buyer's premium.By Daniel Vaughan | Apr 2010
