This (blue 300SL Roadster) is the eighth 300 SL Roadster built. It is more or less a prototype with several similarities to the Gullwing - interior, etc. It was a European delivery car and was a show car at the 1957 Paris Auto Show. It was then purchased by a US Army colonel stationed in Europe who brought it to Ohio in 1959. The car was sold to the current owner in 2003. A two year restoration was commissioned to Classic European Restorations in Vista California. The car was first shown at the Gullwing Group National Convention in Coronado in October of 2005 where it won Best of Show. It was next shown at the LA Concours in May of 2006 where it was awarded Best in Class. | |
