The Morris Minor was designed by Alec-Issigonis and introduced at the 1948 Motor Show. By January of 1961 it had reached one-million units sold. The Minor had a unitary-construction with torsion bar independent front suspension, four-speed synchromesh gearbox, and a rack-and-pinon steering system. Mounted under the hood initially was a 918cc side-valve four-cylinder unit. In 1953, a 803cc overhead-valve unit served as the vehicles powerplant. A 948cc A-series unit appeared in 1956 which increased in size to 1098cc in 1962.

Production continued until 1971, with over 1.5-million Minors produced, making it one of the most popular vehicles of all time.

This 1965 Morris Minor 1000 Convertible was restored in England and imported to the United States. It includes a jack and starting handle. In 2007 it was brought to Carmel, California where it was offered for sale at Bonhams auction, An Important Sale of Collectors' Motorcars and Automobilia, and sold for $9,000 plus premiums and taxes.
