This BRE Datsun 510 competed as the team car to John Morton's car in the SCCA 2.5 Challenge Trans-AM Series in 1971 and 1972. This car did not appear until July of 1971. Prior to that, Morton's was the only car entry by Brock Racing Enterprises. From that point forward, Mike Downs and various guest drivers such as, Jerry Thomas, Sam Posey, Hershel McGriff and Bobby Allison drove the second team car.

It also was the first Datus 510 to run the 1800 cc engine in the 2.5 Challenge Events. In addition to its road racing history, the car was a NHRA drag racing winner and record holder at Ontario, CA, at the 1973 Winter Nationals. The driver was Peter Brock. The class was B Modified Compact with a time of 14.53 seconds.

The Datsun has been restored as it originally appeared at Laguna Seca, CA, on October 15, 1972.
