1980 Triumph Spitfire 1500

The Triumph Spitfire 1500 convertible coupe was powered by a 1493cc overhead valve engine that offered 53 horsepower and was mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Overdrive was available as optional equipment, allowing for up to 50 mpg fuel economy. Production of the two-seater continued until August 1980.

This particular example has just 35 original miles on the odometer. The car stayed in the care of a Triumph dealer for many years. It is finished in white with a black-and-white interior and is equipped from the factory with an overdrive and a luggage rack.

The car has new all-around independent suspension, rack-and-pinion steering, radial tires, and an anti-roll bar on the front. Also in the front are 9-inch disc brakes with drums in the rear.

Inside, there are contoured seats with headrests in houndstooth-patterned brushed-nylon fabric, and interior appointments include a walnut veneer fascia on the dashboard, pile carpet, two front parcel shelves, and a center armrest. Cigar lighter, padded steering wheel, and a two-speed electric windshield wiper round out the amenities.
