Chassis 0910 was originally ordered through Jo Hoppen of Volkswagen of America for Peter Gregg, but was sold almost immediately to Jim Busby of California. He converted the car to twin-turbo configuration, and raced the car in World Championship events where his best finish was a third place at Mid-Ohio. At the end of the 1977 season, Busby converted the car to single-turbo specification and sold it to Otis Chandler, publisher of The Los Angeles Times. Chandler raced the car once with John Thomas at the Watkins Glen six-hour race, where the pair finished in sixth place. After this, Chandler sold the car to Dick Barbour, who used it in 1979 with Bob Akin, Rob McFarlin and Roy Woods to win the 1979 Sebring 12-hour race overall. 0910 also competed in the Daytona 24 hours, Riverside 6 hours and the LeMans 24 hour race, where it finished 9th overall. The current owner purchased the car in 2001, and it underwent a five-year restoration by Jerry Woods Enterprises.
