Hoffman's original request was for 1,000 examples. The demanded far exceeded the initial request, with production of the semi-hand-built car reaching 1,400 units. This 300SL is painted red with a tan leather interior. The odometer reads just 77,000 miles. It has factory original fitted luggage with color that matches the interior. There is a Becker Le Mans radio and the original jack and a complete reproduction tool roll. In 2010, the car was offered for sale at the Sports & Classics of Monterey presented by RM Auctions. It was estimated to sell for $450,000 - $550,000 and offered without reserve. As bidding came to a close, the car had been sold for the sum of $687,500 inclusive of buyer's premium.
