Over 470,000 examples of the Ford Mustang were produced in 1967 which was due to the stylish fastback styling and the selection of V8 engines. Sales declined in 1968 though they remained relatively strong. New for 1968 were better seat belts, dual-circuit brake system, energy absorbing instrument panel and steering column, and more. These improvements did much to improve the safety of the passengers.
