1931 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Spyder

Following the success of the Alfa Romeo 6C 1750, Vittorio Jano designed a larger 8-cylinder engine in a similar chassis to the 6C models, and the first 8C 2300 debuted at the 1931 Mille Miglia. This Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Touring Spider is perhaps one of the most original in the world. It was delivered to a Sig. Marcalo in Sardinia who kept the car until 1939, when it was sold to Sig. Ottolini. It was brought to the United States in 1949 by Frank Griswold, who then sold it to collector David Uihlein who owned the car for the next 50 years. It returned to Europe after it was sold to another renowned collector, Hugh Taylor, who enjoyed the car in the United Kingdom until 2014. Every panel of the Touring body, including the trademark fin at the rear of the car, is original as are the instruments and most of the interior.
