This 1973 Porsche 911T Targa was offered for sale at the 2007 Sports and Classic Car Auction presented by The Worldwide Group, in Hilton Head Island, SC where it was estimated to sell for $55,000 - $75,000. This car has a 2341cc air-cooled six-cylinder engine that produces 140 horsepower. The engine is chain driven with single overhead camshafts on each bank with rocker arms and inclined valves. There is a Bosch Mechanical fuel injection system and a five-speed synchromesh transmission.
This vehicle has been treated to a restoration at which time was fitted with many new parts including tires, rubber seals, trim as needed, clutch, injectors, and more.
At auction, this car failed to find an interested buyer who was willing to satisfy the vehicles reserve. The car was left unsold.By Daniel Vaughan | Dec 2007

This 1973 Porsche 911T Targa was offered for sale at the 2007 Christies auction of 'Exceptional Motor Cars at the Monterey Jet Center.' It is Sepia brown with a tan leather interior. It is powered by a horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine with a fuel injection system and an available 140 horsepower. There is a four-speed manual gearbox and ventilated disc brakes in the front and rear.
The 911 model has been in production for more than four decades with many improvements, enhancements and changes throughout the time. Virtually from the beginning of the 911, there was the all-weather 'Targa' configuration which gave the driver and occupant a more pleasant driving experience. The name 'Targa' derived from the Targa Florio, where Porsche had competed and achieved a great number of successes. The word also means 'shield' which could possibly refer to the roll hoop which increased rigidity tot he vehicles structure. Porsche tried a fold down soft rear window but it proved to be too problematic so by 1970 it was replaced with a fixed wrap-around glass screen.
In 1973, Porsche offered the standard T, E, and S models with 140, 165, and 195 horsepower available respectively. Soon, the company would introduce the RS model which would bring Porsche to an all new level.
This example has recently been restored where it was stripped to bare metal and repainted to its original color. The interior, engine and transmission were serviced, replaced or restored as necessary. At auction, the car was estimated to sell for $55,000 - $65,000. Needless to say, it is in excellent condition and a fine example of the early 1970s Porsche 911T Targa. Sadly, this example would leave the auction unsold.By Daniel Vaughan | Oct 2007
