The Fulvia, introduced at the 1963 Geneva Auto Show, was the final model designed and launched by Lancia prior to its acquisition by Fiat in 1969. The Fulvia was the last model designed and produced by Lancia prior to being acquired by Fiat. The final version of the Fulvia was this Sport model, which was designed and built by Zagato for Lancia. The Fulvia engines utilize a unique narrow-angle V-4 design that uses a single-cylinder head that incorporates dual overhead camshafts.
This is a Series 1.5 transitional model with an aluminum alloy hood and doors. The 2+2 notchback body was designed and built by the famous Italian coachbuilder Zagato. This body style was introduced at the 1965 Turin Motor Show. This car is #545 of 600 Series II cars built. It features a lightweight aluminum hood and doors, the more powerful 1.3 liter engine, Girling 4-wheel disc brakes, and a 5-speed transmission. It is an unrestored car with complete documented ownership history from new. The original owner was Valenti Oreste, who purchased the car on May 15th, 1971, in Forli, Italy. In 2003 the car was brought to the United States. An Italian car enthusiast in Atlanta had the car until 2006, when it was sold to a designer at BMW. The current owner purchased the car in 2009 and has continued to preserve and cherish the car.
The Fulvia Sport coupes were popular in European endurance racing and enjoyed numerous wins on the continent. The Zagato-built Sport coup achieved a second-place finish at the 1969 12 Hours of Sebring and first in its class at the 1969 24 Hours at Daytona.
